The premise of the series is that a gateway to another world suddenly appears one day, and it brings two strange beasts that battle, appear to destroy each other, and then vanish. Twelve years later, Ai and Yu, the twin children of two scientists who disappeared on the day of that battle (called the Day of Succession) go on a quest to find their lost parents. They travel by a phantom subway to another world, joined by Lisa, a woman with psychic powers they meet on the train, and Kaze, who carries a demon-summoning gun.
